Question asked in the House of Commons, May 13, 1907.

Mr. Lonsdale,--To ask the Secretary of State for India whether it is intended to open up negotiations with China for the opening of a trade route along the ancient road from the north-east corner of Assam, viâ Rima, into the Chinese provinces of Szechuan.

Answer.

The answer is in the negative. The Government of India have no intention of opening up the trade route mentioned.
